SIMPASCAN

Dirt Analyser for Large Size Samples

SIMPASCAN — Dirt Analyser for Large Size Samples

SIMPASCAN is a Dirt Laboratory Analyser for large sized paper samples and pulp sheets1. It is designed for quick and accurate analysis of dirt in pulp and paper large sheets2.

Applications and Purpose

The analyser is a powerful and reliable tool for quality control and process monitoring in pulp and paper.

  • Accurate Dirt Counting on:
    • Paper sheets using reflected light3.
    • Pulp sheets using transmitted & reflected light4.
  • Impurity Detection: Detects any contrasting impurities such as shives, metal, plastic, grease, sand, etc.5.
  • Impurity Sorting: Sorts detected impurities as black dots, gray dots, and shives according to their color and shape6.
  • Standards Compliance: Meets all criteria of main dirt calculation standards, including ISO 5350 7, CEN/TC 172 8, TAPPI T563 9, and INGEDE 2 & 410.

Key Features & Highlights

The SIMPASCAN features fully automated sheet scanning and a high-resolution imaging system.

  • Automation & Imaging:
    • Fully automated sheet scanning11.
    • Performs digital scan of individual pulp or paper sheets by reflected light or transmission, according to ISO standards12.
    • High resolution linear camera with 12,288 pixels full width13131313.
    • Powerful LED illumination system14.
  • Performance:
    • Analysis time is less than 1 minute for an $80 \times 80 \text{ cm}$ sheet15.
    • Provides repeatable and reproducible results16.
  • User-Friendly Software:
    • Runs on a standard controlling PC with Windows OS17171717.
    • Measurement Window: Allows individual investigation of each detected dot18.
    • Impurity Visualization: Black spots are marked by red squares, and tinted fibers/shives by yellow squares19.
    • Sorting: Detected dirt can be sorted by type, size, or contrast20.
    • Configuration: Includes a configuration window with 11 configurable classes for size and contrast 21, and 25 entirely configurable classes in total22.
    • Configuration settings can be saved for easy switching between measuring reference standards (e.g., ISO 5350, TAPPI T213, T437, T563)23.
  • Calibration: Calibration of the measuring system is done according to the EFPG standard (CEN/TC 172)24242424.
