SIMPALAB — Dirt analysis Software
SIMPALAB is the Dirt analysis Software from Techpap for the accurate measurement of ink, shives, stickies, and other impurities.
Functions and Workflow
SIMPALAB is a single software for the accurate measurement of impurities, following a clear workflow:
- Scanner command
- Image aquisition
- Image Processing
- Statistical calculation
- Interpretation of results
- Management of obtained data and results export
Key Features & Highlights
The software is described as remarkable and acknowledged user friendly and offers complete and thorough image treatment, developed as a CTP (Computer-to-Plate) software.
- User-Friendly Interface:
- View window for impurities (e.g., black dots, tinted fibers) marked by coloured squares.
- Table showing all detected impurities, with possible sorting per type, size, and contrast.
- Every impurity can be visualised with a single click.
- Conformity with Norms:
- ISO 53501, ISO 53503, ISO 21993 (norm in progress).
- INGEDE Meth. 2, INGEDE Meth. 4.
- TAPPI T 563.
- Image Treatment:
- Unwanted contrasts, shadows, and ripples can be corrected with mathematical treatment (« adaptative threshold by Gaussian approximation histogram »).
- This provides a homogeneous measuring process, reliability, and repeatability.
- Processing Speed: Less than 10 minutes to proceed with 10 measurements (A4 sheet with 600 ppi resolution).
- Family Designation / Thresholding:
- Dedicated particular window for desired family parameter (specific to a scanner, type of measurement, and/or type of paper).
- Thresholding can be done according to size for each dimensional class separately; large spots with low contrast can contribute, as small spots will be rejected unless highly contrasted.
- The « equivalent black area » mode («EBA») can be chosen according to ISO 53504 and Tappi T 563 and activates with a single click.
- For ISO 53501 and INGEDE4, families are ready-made.
