PULP INSPECTOR

Dirt & Shives Module

PULP INSPECTOR — Dirt & Shives Module

The PULP INSPECTOR DIRT & SHIVES MODULE performs continuous analysis of the entire pulp flow going through a measuring cell, counting all impurities typically found in pulps as dirt dots and shives.

Applications and Purpose

The module is designed for the on-line monitoring of pulp contamination, ensuring quality control and process stability.

  • Core Function: Analyzes the whole pulp flowing through a measuring cell.
  • Contaminants Counted: All impurities typically found in pulps as dirt dots and shives.
  • Expertise: Based on the well-known Simpatic dirt counter, leveraging 15 years of experience in on-line dirt counting for deinking, recycling pulps, and paper manufacturing.
  • Sampler: Uses the same sampler as the basic Pulp Inspector module.

Key Features & Highlights (Analysis & Classification)

The system uses the Simpatic software for on-the-fly analysis and identification of various contaminants.

  • High-Speed Imaging: The system takes up to 30 images per second with a digital IP camera.
  • Resolution: Adjustable resolution from $50 \text{ µm}$ to $100 \text{ µm}$.
  • On-the-fly Analysis (Simpatic Software): Detects all contrasted contaminants in the pulp flow, such as:
    • Black contrasted dirt.
    • White contrasted elements.
    • Shives discriminated by shape ratio detection.
  • Classification: All elements are classified by size classes & surface.
  • Impurity Visualization (Software Markers):
    • Shives or unbleached fiber (blue square).
    • Small ink, carbon, or dirt specs (red square).
    • Larger dirt or ink particles (identified).

XTREND INTERFACE (Graphic Interface)

Techpap has developed a specialized graphic interface for results viewing and management.

  • Features:
    • Multi-users (through TCP/IP).
    • Multi-sensor capability.
    • Each workspace is configurable with:
      • Trend curves
      • Histogram
      • Sectors
