Morfi Neo On Line

Continuous Pulp Fiber Morphology Analyzer

MORFI ON-LINE — Continuous Pulp Fiber Morphology Analyzer

MORFI ON-LINE is the industrial version of the MORFI fiber analyzer, designed for continuous pulp morphology monitoring directly on the process line.
It uses the same hardware and software platform as the laboratory MORFI NEO, ensuring fully comparable and consistent results between laboratory and process measurements.

Key Features & Highlights

  • Real-time process surveillance – continuous automatic operation, 24/7.
  • Fast, accurate, and reproducible measurements, compliant with ISO 16065-2.
  • Same optical and software architecture as the MORFI NEO, guaranteeing data consistency across lab and mill environments.
  • Dual operating mode:
    • Online: automatic sampling and cleaning, up to 200 m distance and up to 8 samplers in standard configuration.
    • Offline (lab mode): runs lab samples using the 6-beaker carousel or by introducing samples directly into the main tank.
  • Compact and robust: IP54 stainless-steel cabinet, designed for industrial conditions.
  • Integrated control station with PC, touchscreen, keyboard, and mouse.
  • Easy connectivity to mill network / DCS / LIMS through OPC or Splunk database for data sharing and dashboard integration.

Sampling System

  • Multiple sampling points: up to 8 automatic samplers connected to a single MORFI ON-LINE unit.
  • Inline consistency range: suitable for pulps up to 9% consistency.
  • Two sampler types available, adapted to different process configurations and pulp consistencies.
  • Remote connectivity: all samplers communicate with the MORFI ON-LINE main cabinet via secure IP connection, allowing flexible installation and simplified maintenance.
  • Automatic dilution and cleaning cycles ensure repeatability and reliability of measurements.

Measured Morphological Parameters

  • Fibers: length, width, curl, kink, fibrillation index, coarseness, wall-thickness estimation, broken ends.
  • Fines: length, area, content (by length and surface), and primary/secondary ratio.
  • Shives & Vessels: length, width, area, distribution by class, and total area per gram.
  • Advanced analytics: PCA graphs for process control, AI-based vessel detection, fiber blend solver, and predictive modeling of physical properties.

Applications

  • Process optimization: real-time monitoring of refiners, screens, cleaners, and classifiers.
  • Quality control: continuous evaluation of fiber properties in virgin or recycled pulps.
  • R&D and pilot lines: analysis of micro- and nanofibrillated cellulose, fluff pulp, and new fiber types (annual plants, non-cellulosic sources).

Technical Specifications

  • Operating system: Windows® with integrated MorFi software.
  • Sampling range: up to 200 m, 8 samplers (standard).
  • Inline consistency: up to 9%.
  • Power supply: 220–240 V AC, 600 W.
  • Air supply: 6 bar, dry and filtered.
  • Water: filtered (5 µm) and tempered, max 3 bar.
  • Footprint: 90 × 90 × 180 cm.
  • Analysis time: ~1 min sampling + 3 min measurement.

In Summary

MORFI ON-LINE brings laboratory-grade precision to the production line, using the same optical and software foundation as MORFI NEO.
With its multi-point sampling network, high-consistency capability, and automated dilution and cleaning, it delivers continuous, comparable, and actionable fiber morphology data — uniting quality control and process optimization in one platform.
