MIGRATION CELLS CALIPACK — Migration Cell C type
The CALIPACK Migration Cell enables precise laboratory evaluation of global migration from packaging materials to food, in compliance with European Standard CEN – EN 1186. It ensures safe assessment of potential food contamination arising from packaging, particularly with non-inert and recycled materials like paper, board, and plastics.
Applications
Designed for laboratories testing packaging materials and their interaction with food simulants, according to EN 1186 standards. Ideal for:
– Food packaging manufacturers
– Research laboratories studying material safety
– Quality control teams in the food industry
Design & Key Features
- Fully made of inert materials
- Two AISI 304L stainless steel machined plates
- AISI 304L cylindrical ring (100 cm², 200 ml) with two ports for filling and air exhaust
- Two FDA-approved teflonned silicone O-ring seals (resistant up to 180°C)
- Four AISI 304L studs with bakelite handle nuts for easy assembly
- Optional version in AISI 316L stainless steel
Method of Use
- Prepare two samples of packaging material.
- Assemble them with the cylindrical ring and plates using the handle nuts.
- Fill the internal chamber with the appropriate liquid food simulator.
- Set time and temperature conditions for the test.
- After the test, analyze the liquid for migration or contamination signs.
Recommended: 10 migration cells per test for statistical accuracy.
European Standardization
