DRYER

Laboratory Dryer

DRYER — Laboratory Dryer

The DRYER is an accessory of the FDA, our Laboratory Automated Dynamic Handsheet Former, used for drying the 25 x 90 cm wet handsheet it produces, similarly to the industrial Paper Machine, whereas the wet sheet exiting the press section enters the drying section.

Applications

  • Research & Development – Pulp fibers, alternative and non-cellulosic fibers.
  • Process Optimization – Refiner energy and fiber development monitoring.
  • Cross-industry use – Pulp refiners, chemical additives for pulp & paper.

Key Features & Highlights

  • Size  – capable of drying any laboratory handsheets up to 30 cm x 100 cm, suitable for further processing, like drying, calendering, coating and sizing, and further testing, like physical tests, printability tests, barrier tests, etc … .
  • Range – it can dry laboratory handsheets with a large grammage range, from 20 fine papers up to 400 g/m² boards and made from any type of fibers, such as hardwood, softwood, recycled, alternative and synthetic.
  • Drying – excellent uniform drying of the wet handsheet on a large radius curved surface, similar to the real paper machine, where drying is done by the series of heated drums, with adjustable drying temperature up to 105°C.
  • Integrated control panel – the operation of the DRYER is done directly through its control panel.

Technical Specifications

DRYER

  • Room floor area: 160 × 60 cm
  • Power supply: 240 VAC, 50/60 Hz, 1.500 W, Single Phase

In Summary

The DRYER has been designed by hands-on paper lab technicians and engineers to be easy to use and to dry any moist laboratory handsheets under identical paper machine conditions, including the unique 25 x 90 cm laboratory handsheet produced by the FDA, our Laboratory Automated Dynamic Handsheet Former. The DRYER alongside with the FDA and the PRESS allows paper manufacturers, research centers and chemical suppliers to address end user requirements by exploring and developing new paper and board grades, simulating fiber substitutions and studying the impact of refining, chemical or filler on paper properties.
