Overview
Good sheet formation is essential for optimal paper and board performance, ensuring product quality, machine runability, and waste reduction. The system provides the papermaker with detailed insights into floc size distribution, anisotropy, periodic marks, and process trends.
Operation and Software
The Formation Sensor software operates under Windows, providing a user-friendly interface with instant numerical results, statistics, and trend curves. It enables real-time visualization of the sheet and supports data transfer to spreadsheets, ASCII, remote databases, or DCS systems via OPC or 4-20 mA outputs.
The Device
The measuring head is a rugged U-frame designed for installation on the machine side. It includes cooling controls, illumination stroboscope, and a high-resolution camera. The head connects easily to the control PC via RJ45 standard network cable and can be cooled with instrumentation air to avoid dust and oil contamination.
